Yaromenak to be sent to detention facility December 11

Former political prisoner Uladzimir Yaromenak will be sent to a detention facility for three months in two days.

Young Front activist Uladzimir Yaromenak must appear in the Pershamaiski police department of Minsk on December 11. He will be taken to detention facility No. 1 in Valadarski Street to serve a three-month term of detention for violating the rules of preventive supervision. BelaPAN news agency learnt it from the former political prisoner.

Minsk's Pershamaiski district court sentenced Yaromenak to 3 months of detention on August 20. The Minsk city court upheld the decision on November 12.

Yaromenak and his lawyer said to the cassation commission that materials of his case had been collected in violation of the law, and the criminal case had been opened illegally. The lawyer said the reports on alleged violations of the regime contained numerous errors. For example, the signature of the flat's owner, where Yaromenak was to be, inthe record of the interview differed from the signature in other materials of the case. The Pershamaiski district court refused to carry our a handwriting examination and summon a witness. Yaromenak was found guilty on August 20. The Minsk city court upheld the division despite numerous violations.

Uladzimir Yaromenak was involved in the criminal case of mass disorders in Minsk on December 19, 2010. He was sentenced to three years in a medium security correctional facility. Yaromenak was pardoned by the president in August 2011. He was placed under preventive supervision. Yaromenak was tried twice after the release. On April 27, 2012, he was sentenced to 7 days in custody for disorderly conduct. On January 24, 2013, he was given 12 days of detention for violation the rules of preventive supervision.

The term of preventive supervision already expired. Yaromenak can leave his place of residence and go abroad, but he should warn a corrections inspector if he plans to be absent for a month or more.
