Dinamo Minsk lose shootout battle to Admiral

Trailing 0-2 Dinamo Minsk rallied back to lose in shootout in a KHL game against Admiral Vladivostok on 8 December.

Dinamo’s coach Lubomir Pokovic did not make any serious changes in his lines following the SO win over Amur on 6 December. The only forced replacement happened late in the third period when Dinamo’s goalie Lars Haugen had to leave the game with a lower-body injury. His backup Yan Shelepnyov helped his team to the shootout series where he was outplayed by Niclas Bergfors.

Dinamo Minsk spotted Admiral a 2-0 lead in the opening period before finding their skating legs. Tomas Surovy and Geoff Platt scored to force overtime.

Alexander Materukhin was close to stop the game in the extra period but was denied by Admiral’s goalie Niko Hovinen.

The Belarusians had to settle for one point as Niko Hovinen’s backup Yevgeny Ivannikov stood unbeaten in Dinamo’s three tries in the shootout.

With 36 points after 35 games the Bisons (14th in the West) are heading home to host Vityaz Chekhov on 11 December and Dynamo Moscow on 13 December.
