Trial against Vitebsk BCD activists postponed

A court hearing in the administrative case of the activists detained on the Day of Solidarity was postponed until February 21.

The decision was announced today by judge Inna Hrabouskaya after the detained activists demanded lawyers, BelaPAN news agency reports.

It should be reminded that Stanislau Laurenau and Alyaksei Kishchuk were detained on February 16 during Wave of Solidarity action. The young men hung out a banner in the city centre calling to release the political prisoners.

The BCD activists spent the weekend in the detention facility. They were charged with violating article 23.34 of the Code of Administrative Offences (violation of the rules of organising or holding mass events).
