External debt will increase by $5 more billion

The external debt of Belarus may account for $17 billion or 22.7% of the GDP by the end of 2013.
The Minister of Economy Mikalai Snapkou stated that at a meeting of the Council of Ministers’ presidium which took place in February, Interfax reports.
“The external debt may increase $17 billion (by the end of 2013 - Interfax). Thus, the ration of the state debt to the GDP will account for 22.7% and will reach closer to the safety threshold of 25%”, - the minister’s reports says.
As it was reported earlier, the external debt of Belarus accounted for $12 billion at the beginning of 2013. Thus, according to the minister’s prediction, country’s external debt may increase by $5 billion in the course of 2013 or by 41.7%
The joint debt of Belarus is $34 billion.
