Prayer under police surveillance

Yesterday the participants of a regular prayer for political prisoners commemorated Iryna Kazulina, Halina Malchanava, Volha Dashkevich, Kristina Shatsikava and Yana Palakova who passed away.
According to a civic activist Hanna Shaputska, a Radio Svaboda’s journalist Hanna Sous initiated the idea, who in her blog suggested the public to celebrate a Day of a political prisoner’s relatives of 23 February in honor of Aliaksandr Kazulin’s wife Iryna who passed away on 23 February 2013.
The prayer was observed by policemen in mufti who taped the event on video cameras. The prayer lasted for a bit longer than 10 minutes after which the participants went away.
Prayers for political prisoners are held near St. Symon and Alena Cathedral in Minsk every evening.
