Number of pardoned people kept in secret

Brest human rights activist Raman Kislyak failed to obtain information about the number of pardoned death row inmates.

Raman Kislyak said to charter97.org:

“I applied to the Belarusian ruler asking to give me information about the number of people, who were sentenced to death, but later pardoned in 1994-2012. Yesterday, I received an answer signed by acting head of the citizenship and migration department in Lukashenka's administration. The letter says that this information is contained in the classified decree and cannot be disclosed.”

The human rights activist noted he would appeal against this decision.

“I am going to appeal against the decision. I want them to disclose the document and give this information to public and human rights activists,” the human rights defender said.
