Russian paratroopers will march through Minsk

A parade squad of 170 paratroopers of the Pskov airborne troops division has left for Belarus.

The Russian paratroopers under the command of a lieutenant colonel Igor Borovkov will take part in the military parade, which will be held in Minsk on 3 July. The have arrived from Pskov to the capital of Belarus today, the press-service of Russia’s Defense Ministry reports.

Paratroopers from the neighboring country have been participating in parades since 3 July 2011. For the first time representatives of Russia’s airborne troops took part in official celebrations of the 65th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s victory in the World War II, which took part in Brest.

We would remind that parade squads of the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Emergency and State Border Control Committee are actively preparing for the military parade on 3 July.

It is planned that around three thousand people will take part in the parade – the cadets of Minsk Suvorov military college, students of the Military Academy, students of the military and technical faculty of the BNTU, armed forces personnel of the 120th separate light armored guard brigade, 38th and 103th separate mobile brigades, 86th communications brigade, 56th, 60th and 74th separate communications regiments, composite company of ceremonial troops, and also a composite orchestra of the Military Forces.

The authorities traditionally keep silent about the parade’s costs.
