Minsk banks sell a US dollar for 9 thousand BYR

On Monday morning many banks in Minsk have started selling United States dollars for 9 thousand Belarusian roubles.

The official exchange rate for a dollar accounts for 8840 roubles today. Commercial banks try to establish the exchange rate at which they sell and buy foreign currency within the 2% range of the official rate. Thus, the rate for selling the dollars can now reach 9010 roubles, Nasha Niva reports.

Bank BelVEB and Home Credit Bank have been selling dollar at 9000 roubles since Monday morning.

Deltabank is lagging a bit behind – 8990 roubles.

A state-owned Belarusbank in Minsk sells dollars at 8950-8990 depending on the branch office.

The symbolic boundary was crossed in the regions already on the weekend.

The best exchange rate is at Moscow-Minsk Bank – 8900 roubles.

We would remind that two weeks ago the US dollar has set a 1.5 year record: on 13 June it cost 8730 Belarusian roubles. The euro cost 11660 roubles, and the Russian rouble – 270. These were the results of the bargaining at the Belarusian currency and stock exchange.

We would note that during last year the exchange rate for the US dollar did not reach such a level. Only in November 2011, right after the devaluation, the American currency cost more at the Belarusian currency and stock exchange. The US dollar then was sold at the rate of 8850 Belarusian roubles.
