Activist from Baranavichy gets warning from prosecutors

Activist Mikalai Charnavus was summoned to the Baranavichy prosecutor's office on September 17. He received an official warning.

The letter signed by prosecutor Bildzeika says that Mikalai Charnavus was an organiser of unsanctioned rallies of Baranavichy market vendors on June 27 at the local cooperative market (11 Chernyshevski Street) and in front of the city executive committee (2 Lenin Square). The official warning says that the activist allegedly performed functions of an organiser of a mass event on July 1 in front of the Ministry of Taxes (69 Lenin Street), Viasna human rights reports.

Prosecutors reminded Mikalai Charnavus about the law on mass events and warned against actions that violate the law on mass events. The activist can be punished in accordance with the law in case he continues violating the order of organising and holding mass events.

We remind that on August 26, 2013, the court of Baranavichy and Baranavichy district found activist Mikalai Charnavus not guilty of organising unsanctioned protests of market vendors on June 27 and July 1, but ruled he was an active participant of the protests and issued him a fine of 21 penalty unites (2,100,000 rubles).
