Mauchanau's cellmate punished for refusal to defame activist

The prison authorities, where a former political prisoner served his term, press on his former cellmate.
Aliaksandr Mauchanau wrote it on his blog.
”Before my release, I stood trial in the correctional colony. I was placed under supervision for six months. Some inmates agreed to give testimony as witnesses from my side. Their testimony revealed that the authorities of correctional colony No. 14 falsified some reports against me. It was obvious that the decision to put me under supervision was absolutely ungrounded,” the former political prisoner writes.
Though all facts were in favour of Aliaksandr Mauchanau and prison officers gave confused testimony and contradicted one another, the court placed the opposition activist under supervision.
Aliaksandr Mauchanau writes the prison authorities didn't forget about those who told the truth at the trial.
“They faced troubles after my release. I know that Andrei Hinko, who had a bunk near me, had not had problems with behaviour. Suddenly he was accused of violations. He was already thrown into a punishment cell. Besides, prison staff take away his personal belongings to the storage room for no reasons. He cannot work in the industrial unit. From a candidate for parole release he turned into a persistent violator. He may be placed under supervision too. The prison authorities do it not only to punish him, but also to show other inmates what they can face if they testify against prison officers at trial,” he writes.
