Mikalaj Autukhovich sent 140 New Year’s congratulations

Mikalaj Autukhovich sent 140 New Year’s congratulations

A film director Volha Mikalajchyk received a letter from the political prisoner date on 31 December.

“I received a letter from you, thanks! The pictures also reached me. I have not seen mother for long. Thank God, I can at least look at the pictures. The meetings with Lena (Mikalaj Autukhovich’s wife - charter97.org) took place quite long ago too. We have not seen each other for over 16 months… She cried, when she saw me, but unfortunately nothing can be done. Prison is no resort... In the parcel I received almost everything. I do not need much. I have everything I need. It is enough until the end pf the term.

Hi to all the kind, not indifferent people. I received many letters and congratulations! I do not know, when I will be able to respond to everyone. That is why every free minute I am writing. Although in short, but I respond to all. I manage to congratulate over 140 people myself, as many as the number of the postcards I had. And I did not have too much time. Right before the holidays they stole a whole week from me, so I barely managed to write the congratulations in time. I only sent them on 30 December.

Now I will say my goodbyes! Hold on! Do not be afraid, if you are not doing anything criminal. Truth is always stronger than evil. That is why truth will win!”, - the political prisoner wrote in his letter.

We would remind that the verdict to Mikalaj Autukhovich was passed on 6 May 2010. He was convicted by the Supreme Court of the Republic of Belarus charged with violating part 3 of the article 295 of the Criminal Code and, despite the case fell apart in court due to lack of evidence, he was sentenced to 5 years and two months in high prison for revealing the cases of corruption among local authorities representatives. Officially the entrepreneur was convicted for storing and carrying five bullets.
