“Pahonia” taken away from Kupala Theater’s “Pan Tadewusz” play

The premiere of the performance “Pan Tadewusz” based on Adam Mickiewicz’s play will take place today in Kupala Theater in Minsk.

However, according to the posts of the theater’s actors on social media, the image of the “Pahonia” coat of arms disappeared from the setting, which, though, was there at the main rehearsal.

The ancient Belarusian coat of arms could be seen on the flags on scene, Nasha Niva reports.

“Yes, “Pahonia” was there at the main rehearsal and at yesterday’s performance of the play. But today in the morning it came out that at the open premiere performance there will be no image of the coat of arms”, - an actor Raman Padalaka confirmed.

At the theater’s press-service and administration they do not yet know, whether the coat of arms disappeared from the performance’s setting, and if so, why. They advised to call directly the theater’s art director Mikalaj Pinihin, saying that he was the only one to know. But at the moment Pinihin is at a rehearsal, that is why journalists did not get comments.
