Lukashenka orders OAC to take international Internet traffic under control

Belarus wants to earn on transferring Internet traffic and struggle with grey flows.

Aliaksnadr Lukashenka and Siarheu Spiahun, the head of the Operations and Analysis Centra under the aegis of the president, discussed prospects for collecting payment for transferring international Internet traffic.

“We earn money on it, not bad money,” the dictator noted. “But specialists say more and more often they we still lose much due to illegal traffic.”

A question of electronic document management between government bodies, the project of the National Centre for Electronic Services, was raised at the meeting.

Siarhei Shpiahun explained that various economic operators, industries and ministries implemented information technologies on their own, but their expenses on telecommunication equipment and its servicing were huge. “The state will save on equipment and servicing by creating a common platform,” the specialist explained the problem.
