Domracheva 3rd in 7.5K sprint in Antholz

Darya Domracheva of Belarus came third in the 7.5K sprint of E.ON IBU World Cup 6 in Antholz, Italy on 16 January.

The best Belarusian biathlete has made it into the top three of the current season for the fifth time.

The leader of the Belarusian national team was unmatched flying around the tracks, but two penalties put her 18 seconds away from the top spot. Darya Domracheva took the 7.5K sprint event in 20:40.3, 10.1 seconds behind the winner, Anais Bescond of France, who claimed the first win of her career in 20:32.2 (one penalty). Second place went to Andrea Henkel of Germany, who shot clean but finished 6.7 seconds back.

Nadezhda Skardino of Belarus made it into the top ten, finishing 8th, 24.1 seconds back (clean shooting). Lyudmila Kalinchik came in 28th (1:10.8 back; one penalty). Anastasia Duborezova was 48th (1:52.5; 3), while Anastasia Kalina finished 64th (2:11.0; 2).

In the overall standings Darya Domracheva, scoring 415 points, has climbed to the second position, going behind Gabriela Soukalova of the Czech Republic with 426 points. Tora Berger of Norway goes third with 413 points. The spots of other Belarusian biathletes in the chart are as follows: Nadezhda Skardino 29th (166), Lyudmila Kalinchik 53rd (37), Anastasia Duborezova 61st (23), Nadezhda Pisareva 70th (16).

E.ON IBU World Cup 6 in Antholz will also include the following events:

17 January: men’s 10K sprint

18 January: women's 10K pursuit

18 January: men’s 12.5K pursuit

19 January: women’s 4x6K relay

19 January: men’s 4x7.5K relay.
