Clashes in Kiev resumed with renewed vigor (Video, online)

Tough confrontation in the area of Hrushevski Street in Kiev city center has been lasting for over two days. After the law enforcers backed off and formed a cordon taking their positions, the protester continued throwing Molotov cocktails. In their turn Berkut keeps using special tools and shooting at most active protesters, liga.net reports. The number of protesters keeps growing.

At night riot policemen attempted an attack at the protesters, but after a retreat the protesters counterattacked and won back their positions.

We would remind that the adoption of the laws, which the public already called dictatorial, caused a wave of protests in Ukraine. After the ninth consecutive public council meeting in Kiev the protesters, among whom there were radical activists, went on to picket the Supreme Council, but had to face a cordon of riot police and interior troops near Lobanovsky stadium. Clashes started between radicals and police forces. The activists started setting police cars on fire. The police responded with water cannons and rubber bullets. There are dozens injured on both sides. The USA and EU urged for negotiations with all the parties involved in order to solve the political crisis, consider the demands of the protesters and prevent the violence from escalating. President Viktor Yanukovych suggested a round table with the participation of the opposition.
