129

(being updated) The name of a Belarusian national killed in Kyiv has been revealed.

Ukrainian media report Belarusian Mikhail Zhyzneuski was a member of Vitali Klitschko's team. He lived in the town of Bila Tserkva.

As charter97.org has learnt from Iryna Piatrova, an activist of the civil campaign European Belarus, she met Mikhail Zhyzneuski, 25, during the pro-EU protests. He had left for Ukraine in 2006 due to problems over participation in opposition actions.

Zhyzneuski had lived in Homel before his departure to Ukraine. He was a member of the Maidan defence unit and lived in the protest camp.

The special forces and the police started a brutal operation in Kyiv's Hrushevsky Street this morning. The police attacked the barricades. Gunshots were heard during the attack. The police approached the buses, which were burnt two days ago. Videos showed protesters trying to escape and policemen catching and beating them.

At least three people are reported to have died in clashes. Two demonstrators, among them activist Sergei Nigoyan, were shot by the police. Another protester died at hospital after falling from the top of the stadium.
