Euromaydan beats off storm troopers (Video, online)

Demonstrators are strengthening the positions and beat off riot police’s attacks.

Starting from late evening yesterday riot police started cleansing Kiev’s streets. However, in the course of the clashes that took part at night and continued in the morning, the protesters managed to defend the territory in the capital’s center. The demonstrators continue maintaining a solid line of bonfires, trying to spot special police forces. Police is actively using water cannons. While the water cannon is used for putting off the fire, at the same time it is also used against the protesters, gazeta.ua reports.

One Hundred thousand people spent the night in Maydan Nezalezhnosti. The protesters erected a high barricade made of concrete in Hrushevskoho Street, from which they throw petards at the riot police. Policemen keep actively using flash-bang grenades and rubber bullets. The protesters are building barricades of small cement blocks, which are apparently meant to complicate for a while the advance of police forces towards European Square and Maydan Nezalezhnosti, where the fortification of the barricades continues as well. The numbers of the injured keeps constantly growing.
