Mahilou official tries to hide road accident

The prosecutor's office of the Mahiloi district analysed the implementation of anti-corruption legislation.

According to the Belarusian general prosecutor's office, the analysis of the inspection results shows that financial violations are spread in the agricultural sector, BelaPAN news agency reports.

The most widespread corruption crimes are embezzlement by abuse of power (37%), giving a bribe (32%), abuse of power (13%), official misconduct (8%), mediation in bribery (5%) and accepting a bribe (2.7%).

The prosecutor's office of the Mahilou region opens a case against a deputy head of the district executive committee over abuse of power. He used a company car belonging to another organisation for personal purposes. The official committed traffic violations and gave the road police false information about the car driver. As a result, an innocent person was fined.

The same official damaged a car in an accident. He ordered his subordinates to fix the car from the funds of the state organisation instead of paying for repair works himself.

Prosecutors revealed the facts of overstating the costs and amount of performed construction and installation works during the construction/reconstruction of milk farms by agricultural organisations.

The prosecutor of the Mahilou region and the Mahilou regional executive committee ordered the organisations of the agricultural sector to rectify the violations following the analysis of the implementation of anti-corruption legislation.
