Police and KGB terrorise BATE fans

31

The law-enforcement agencies hunt for fans of the Barysau-based football club.

It began after a photo of fans with the national white-red-white flag and a slogan supporting Ukrainian pro-EU protesters appeared on the Internet, barysau.by reports.

One of the fans was sentenced to 5 days in custody. He was said that someone recognised him in the photo, though all faces were overpainted to make identification impossible. The man didn't return home after he had gone to a police station on Wednesday evening. He was tried behind closed doors on Thursday and found guilty of “violating the rules of holding meetings, rallies, processions, demonstrations and pickets”.

The fans say their relatives and friends receive telephone calls, but the police don't send summonses.
