Belarus is preparing for another military exercise at EU’s borders

For the first time Minsk will hold military practice with the use of Tor-M2 missile system.

It will take place in Belarus in February 2014. The information was shared with journalists by the commander of the Western operational and tactical headquarters of the air forces and air defense colonel Andrej Hurcevich, BelTA reports.

A military practice is scheduled to be held in the territory of Belarus this year, in late February, with the use of the third battery of the Tor-M2 system that has come into service yesterday, he said. Belarusian servicemen already tried it in hot climate conditions – in Russian polygon Ashuluk. Now the testing of the equipment will take place in cold conditions in former Paleski polygon near Baranavichy.

Andrej Hurcevich expressed his assuredness that the systems would not let down the military man this time either and the testing would be successful.

The colonel also pointed out that coming into service of the third battery of the Tor-M2 system has significantly increased the fighting strength of Belarusian air defense forces. “We can say that this is the equipment of military air defense. Its task is to shield certain objects”, - Andrej Hurcevich explained.
