Uladzimir Yaromenak: Thanks for breath of freedom

The political prisoner wishes a Happy New Year and a Merry Christmas.

Uladzimir Yaromenak thanked people for support and solidarity, charter97.org learnt.

“I received a real present on December 31 – a pile of letters from relatives, friends and unknown people. Thank you for congratulations, warm words, support and a breath of freedom I received with your wishes,” he wrote.

The letter of the political prisoner is dated December 31.

Activist Uladzimir Yaromenak was sentenced to three months in custody in August for violating the rules of preventive supervision.

He was involved in the criminal case over mass disorders in Minsk on December 19, 2010. He was given three years in a medium security correctional colony, but pardoned by the president in August 2011. On April 27, 2012, he was sentenced to seven days in custody for disorderly conduct. On January 24, 2013, he received 12 days in custody for violating the rules of preventive supervision.

The term of the preventive supervision already expired, but Yaromenak still has restrictions. He can leave his place of residence and go abroad, but he should warn a corrections officer if he is going to absent for more than a month.
