Many fans managed to bring banned flags to the stadium despite strict control measures.

The Belarusians supported their national team waving scarfs in the colours of the national flag. Many wore T-shirts with the Chase coat of arms and patriotic slogans. Some managed to bring national white-red-white flags to the stadium.

The main banner of the Belarusian fans – “Meeting of friends” – was painted in national coloures.

Fans were shouting political chants at the match. Both Belarusian and Ukrainian fans chanted “Long live Belarus” and “Glory to Ukraine”, sang Kupalinka and Soldiers of Light and shouted a popular chant about Putin.

More than 100 Ukrainians fans wait for trials in Belarus. According to unofficial information, the riot police detained fans allegedly for swearing after the UEFA Euro 2016 qualifying match.

A Nasha Niva journalist reports that approximately 30 Belarusians were detained. Artsiom Babounikau was detained for a flare and taken to a police station in Barysau. Uladz Lobakh from Mazyr, who wore a white-red-white scarf, was detained, too. He says about 30 people were in a police van. Two girls are reported to have been detained for Ukrainian symbols.
