Aliakssandr Dabravolski: “Taiga Union” has no prospects

Neither the CIS nor the Customs Union are useful for their members.

Aliaksandr Dabravolski, the director of the European School for Political Studies, says from Kyiv what Ukraine thinks about the event that was held in the Belarusian capital on October 10, Radio Racyja reports.

“It became obvious that the CIS (the Commonwealth of Independent States) is not useful for countries. All are toothless and cannot say anything against Russia's aggression in Ukraine, so the CIS has not prospects. The Customs Union is called 'Taiga Union' here. This is not interesting for Ukraine. People here have their own vision of their future and their country. Of course, it won't be easy, but Ukraine's direction has already been chosen. It is moving in the direction of civilisation. Those who cannot show their political will move to the taiga,” he says.

The politician noted that articles and website focusing on the people arrested at Belarus vs Ukraine football match in Barysau had a higher rating on Friday than those devoted to the talks in Lukashenka's residence.
