Gomselmash workers: 3,000 unsold combines at storage areas

Gomselmash, the country's largest producer of agricultural equipment that employs thousands of people in Homel, has again faced problems.

Workers say they have to take unpaid leave from October 17 to October 20. Wages are falling, while the number of unsold combine harvesters at the storage area has reached 3,000. Gomselmash, however, denies this information: officially, the plant stores only 416 unsold combines, Komsomolskaya Pravda v Belarusi writes.

“Yes, the plant authorities have decided that workers should take unpaid leave. It is not four days, but only two, October 17 and October 20. We don't have enough orders. We don't work at full capacity. Tell me what plant works successfully in Belarus now and who doesn't have excessive stock. We are in the same situation as everyone in the country. It's not a tragedy. It's not that we switched off the lights and shut the doors. The plant continues to work,” a Gomselmash representative said.

The plant confirms that Ukraine began to buy less equipment, but noted it wasn't the main reason for oerstock.
