The Official Journal of the European Union has published the updated list of Belarusian individuals and entities subject to sanctions.

A total of 24 individuals were removed from the list, including officials and judges, rector of Brest State University Mechyslau Chasnouski, deputy editor of Sovetskaya Belorussia newspaper Siarhei Hardziyenka, former MP Siarhei Kastsian, propagandist Aliaksei Mikhalchanka, former first deputy director of the Information and Analytical Centre under the aegis of Lukashenka's Administration Aliaksei Huseu, businessmen Vladimir Peftiev and Anatoli Ternavski, new head of the Trade Union Federation Mikhail Orda, former CEC member Nadzezhda Kisiasiova, former CEC member Aliaksandr Kaliada, former judge of Minsk's Tsentralny district court Aliaksandr Khadanovich, former judge of the Minsk city court Ihar Krot, former head of the Vitesbk regional election commission Viachaslau Krukouski, judge Aksana Reliava, former rector of Minsk Pedagogical University Piotr Kukharchyk (died), former judge of the Pukhavichy district court Sviatlana Akulich, deputy head of the association for information affairs and social partnership Eduard Padaliak, former judge of Minsk's Tsentralny district court Inna Shaiko, fomer head of the Homel regional election commission Mikalai Stosh, deputy editors of Sovetskaya Belorussia newspaper Aliaksandr Taranda and Halina Tarapetskaya, former judge of Minsk's Partyzanski district court Alena Tsitsiankova, former judge of Minsk's Leninski district court Dzmitry Yuferytsyn, former judge of the Supreme Economic Court Dzmitry Aliaksandrau.

Sanctions were lifted from BT Telecommunication, Neftekhimtrading, Triplepharm, Triple-Veles, Univest-M, Unis Oil, UnivestStroiInvest.

The EU Council extended sanctions against the Belarusian authorities for a year. The decision was taken on October 30.

“This is because not all political prisoners have been released and rehabilitated, and the respect for human rights, the rule of law and democratic principles has not significantly improved in Belarus," the Council said in a statement.

The EU updated the list of individuals and entities subject to sanctions and took a decision to remove 24 individuals and seven companies from the list, considering there were no longer grounds for keeping them under restrictions.
