US Department of State: Minsk agreements are not implemented

The peace agreements between Ukraine, Donbas’ separatists, and Russia are not being implemented today.

This was stated by the United States State Department spokesperson, Victoria Nuland, as Espresso TV informs.

"From the American point of view, Minsk peace treaty about the pacification in Donbas was a good bargain. However, the question on its implementation remains, - she said. - We know that today the obligations are not fulfilled. Shooting has not stopped, and it should stop at the airports of Donetsk, Debaltsevo, and Shakhtarsk. All foreign troops and technics have to be withdrawn. All hostages, including Nadezhda Savchenko, should be released."

Earlier Petro Poroshenko and Victoria Nuland have discussed the state of implementation of the Minsk agreements which were aimed at resolution of the situation in a number of districts in Donetsk and Lugansk regions. In particular, there was the need to establish full control over the Ukrainian-Russian border as a key factor for future peace settlement.

The President of Ukraine stressed the need for the resumption of the border guards’ work and involvement of the OSCE experts equipped with the proper technical means for monitoring at checkpoints on the border line. "Without the restoration of Ukraine's full control of the border, it is impossible to reach a peaceful settlement," - he stressed.
