Semen Semenchenko: New meeting in Minsk or offensive of Russian troops by Wednesday

The situation in eastern Ukraine will change in the nearest two days.

Semen Semenchenko, the commander of the Donbas battalion, wrote it on Facebook.

“I observe the stirring up of tensions over Russian troops' readiness for an offensive and see two variants: a new meeting in Minsk on Monday--Wednesday (perhaps it is what they prepare us for) or an offensive,” he writes. “Taking into account the information I know, I think the first variant is more probable. But I am not Nostradamus.”

Semen Semenchenko insists on strengthening the Ukrainian positions on the front line.

“I am ready in my zone (the Donbas battalion and a list of reforms with dates for the coalition agreement). We need to know if the officials responsible for defencive facilities are ready. Attempts to again lay the blame for their mistake on mobile phones won't work. If excavators don't dig trenches and people don't build dugouts in the places pointed on the map, you will answer, in case something happens, not to prosecutors, but to people. You still have time to dig. You won't hide in dugouts, but digging is all you need to do.”

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said in an interview with Bild that the country was ready for total war with Russia.

“We are prepared for total war,” Ukraine's head of state said. “The Ukrainian army is in a much better state than it was five months ago.”

The president of Ukraine stressed that Ukraine “wants peace more than anything”, but has to be ready for the worst-case scenario.

The National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine said on Sunday that pro-Russian militants and Russian troops in the anti-terrorist operation zone were preparing for an offensive.
