Donald Tusk: Putin saw what world thinks of him

The newly elected president of the European Council thinks the Russian president felt in Australia what the world really thinks about his action in Ukraine.

Donald Tusk said it in Sopot (Poland), UNIAN cites PAP.

“I think it's good that president Putin saw and felt what the world thinks about his actions and actions of the Russians in Ukraine,” the Polish politician says.

Most people don't doubt the atmosphere around Russia is getting worse due to the conflict in Ukraine, according to him.

“I wouldn't say it becomes better for Ukraine, because Ukraine now has no things to be happy about, but the atmosphere in Europe and in the world around Russia is definitely becoming worse and it is happening very fast,” the former Polish PM said.

Tusk noted the Ukrainian topic would be among the key issues for him as the president of the European Council and noted the world had faced a “real war”.

The politician says that he maintains contact with EU leaders and see them changing their attitude towards the situation in Ukraine.

“The illusions – if someone had them, and many had certain illusions or delusions about Moscow's intentions – disappear. I have the impression the illusions have gone,” Tusk noted.

The leaders of the US, Japan and Australia announced at the G20 summit they would unite to oppose Russia.
