10,000 “social parasites” spotted in Babrujsk

The Interior Affairs Directorate, the tax police, the housing service, the education, sports and tourism department, and the military enlistment office have been “laboring” at the list.

The result was more than 10,000 persons, babruysk.by writes.

Family names of more than 837 unemployed, who are registered by the inspection of corrections, have been offered by the Interior Affairs Directorate. 7,100 persons held administratively liable, who had not indicated their place of work, were added to that. 199 individual entrepreneurs, who do not pay taxes for some reasons, were “ratted out” by tax inspection. The housing and utility services identify 886 debtors who haven’t paid their utilities bills. 123 more “social parasites” have been detected by the education, sports and tourism department, and 95 by the united town military enlistment office. All of those who appeared to get “under the microscope”, are to be carefully checked now. And those who would not confirm their employment, could expect fines or other repressive measures in the future.

It is worth mentioning that in the rest of the civilized world the authorities carefully support the unemployed, pay unemployment benefits to them (which are up to Euro1,000 in Central European countries). In many other countries additional ways to provide employment and raise the spirits of their citizens are invented.

For example, in Sweden the unemployed are paid for moving to Norway, where it is easier to find job, and in Wales they are offered indoor tanning to cheer them up. In Belarus the right for labour is guaranteed by the basic law – the Constitution. However, this right is not an obligation.

However, who and when had been paying attention to the Constitution over the last 20 years?
