Belarusian Embassy accuse Russian mass media of a lie

Russian mass media reports on overspeeding by diplomatic vehicle involved in road traffic accident on November 19.

The representatives of Belarusian Embassy in Russia deny the fact that the driver of Ambassador Ihar Piatryshenka, involved in road traffic accident on November 19 in Smolensk district in the Russian Federation, was overspeeding, reports BelaPAN.

In the meantime, Russian mass media reports on diplomatic vehicle overspeeding and immediate put off of machine numbers. “Moskovskij Komsomolets” also reports: “Soon after the road traffic accident the regional office of Ministry for Emergency Situations placed the information on the accident on its web-site. One of the road users, his name was not mentioned, went over the speed limit. As soon as they knew the participators of the accident the information was removed”.

“Any claims that the driver of diplomatic vehicle went over the speed limit are without foundation”, told the head of Belarusian Embassy in Moscow to the state agency Belta. The diplomatic mission not commented on the situation.

The accident happened on Wednesday in 10:47 Moscow time next to Yakovlevo, Yartsevo region, Smolensk district. The vehicle of Belarusian ambassador crashed into “VAZ”. In the road crash two passengers of “VAZ” died. The first woman, born in 1939, died at the scene; the second one, born in 1937, succumbed to injures at the central regional hospital in Yartsevo. According to Ministry for Foreign Affairs, the Ambassador Piatryshenka and his driver, also the citizen of Belarus, were not seriously injured and were not taken to hospital.

Preliminary figures indicate the driver of “VAZ” was found guilty. During the press-briefing in Minsk Dzmitry Mironchyk, the press-secretary of Ministry for Foreign Affairs, stated that the Belarusian side offered the necessary aid in investigation for the road traffic accident.
