Baranavichy activist forbidden to leave Belarus

On December 21 an activist was released after 10-day arrest.

Activist Dzmitry Paloika, sentenced by the Baranavichy Court and Baranavichy District Court for a disorderly conduct under Article 17.1 of the Administrative Code to 10-day arrest, was released on December 21.

Despite the dead of night he was met by activists alongside the city police office and taken home, Viasna Human Righst Centre reports

- We learned that during the arrest Dmitry had been subjected to a strong pressure of the KGB officers, who wanted to find out the circumstances of his stay in Ukraine and, perhaps, the reason why his name had appeared in the list of the Ukrainian battalion "Donbas", Viktar Syrytsa, the activist of the "For Freedom" movement, said.

He added that Dzmitry Paloika was forbidden to leave the country.

It should be reminded that on arrival from Ukraine in Baranavichy railway station activist Paloika was detained by police and KGB officers. It was drawn up an administrative protocol for insubordination to police. Baranavichy City Court found him guilty and sentenced him to 10-day arrest. He served it in the temporary detention facility of the Municipal Department of the Interior Affairs.
