Lukashenka alarmed by Ukrainian border demarcation

Lukashenka demands to take the question of demarcation of the Ukrainian border seriously.

Lukashenka demanded the chairman of the State Border Committee Leanid Maltsau to take to heart the issue of Belarusian-Ukrainian border demarcation, Interfax-Zapad agency was told by the press-service of the dictator.

“The matter of the Ukrainian border is very important. We have agreed that we have to seriously work to demark the Ukrainian border. Our Ukrainian friends have nothing to complain about. It was not our idea, it was theirs. They started this work and we had to also start doing it. I wonder how they are working, how we are working, and what is going on at the Ukrainian border on the whole. Do we have to be concerned about it today?” Lukashenka said.

The Chairman of the State Border Committee of Belarus informed that the state of the national border security was stable. The Belarusian border service takes care of its tasks as usual. The border checkpoints are working harder in anticipation of Christmas and New Year celebrations. However, Leanid Maltsau assured that the State Border Committee was ready for any changes of the situation.

The instructions the ruler has given to ensure reliable border security of the country are executed in full on time and well, Malsau said. In particular, the organizational and personnel structure of the Belarusian border service has been optimized. The move has allowed enhancing the protection of the state border, including the southern direction. Additional border posts have been deployed. Two detachments have been deployed to enhance border protection near the construction site of the Belarusian nuclear power plant. A new border unit is about to be deployed in Mozyr.

He added that the level of the engineering equipment used to protect the state border has been seriously upgraded, primarily in the southern direction as well as the Lithuanian and Latvian parts of the border. Maltsau said that work continues to introduce digital queuing at border checkpoints. The development of a draft presidential decree to create the legal framework for introducing digital queue is nearing completion.
