Police to tighten security measures

The Belarusian Interior Ministry prepares for the elections.

Internal affairs units and internal troops involved in maintaining public order and road safety will step up security measures during the local council election from March 17 to March 24.

This is said in the Interior Ministry's decree No. 39 of February 4, the Ministry's website informs.

The decree brings certain aspects of the work of law-enforcement officers, army officers and civilian personnel in the specified period in line with the legislation.

None elections and referendums in Belarus have been recognised by international organisations since 1995.
