Maidan’s commandant: Mercenaries from Belarus are active in Ukraine

Activists in Hrushevskoho Street could have been shot at by snipers from Belarus.

Five special groups from Russia and Belarus act in Ukraine. Two of them are riflemen, who attacked the activists Hrushevskoho Street in Kiev.

The information from Maidan commandant Andrij Parubij’s interview to the web-site ‘Vesti. Reporter’.

“At might a person came to me and told me that five groups of four people acted in Ukraine. Four groups from Russia and one from Belarus. Two of them are riflemen, who worked in Hrushevskoho Street. The man was a participant of one of the groups and he came to warn, because he was originally from Ukraine. He did not tell much, but advised to be careful. He said: “You are the target”. Because if anything happens to the leaders this will have a huge resonance”, - Parubij’s said.

At the same time, according to him, for the kidnappings of Maidan activists responsible are criminal groups, linked to Russian mafia.

We would remind that protests in Ukraine started in November 2013 after the government’s refusal to sign an EU Association Agreement. After the attempts to use violence to disperse Euromaidan the protests gained force and spread to almost all the regions. In mid-January most violent clashes took place between riot police and protesters, which left four dead, including a Belarusian Mikhail Zhyznieuski.

Yesterday activists freed a number of previously seized buildings in Kiev.
