Yanukovych announced pre-term presidential elections

Ukraine’s president also calls for starting to form a government of national trust.

“On these tragic days, when Ukraine has suffered such heavy losses, when people died on both sides of the barricades, I consider it my duty to the memory of the ones perished to claim – there is nothing more important than a human life. There are no such steps that we would not have to do altogether in order to restore the peace in Ukraine.

I announce three steps that need to be made to restore peace and avoid further victims of the confrontation.

I claim that I initiate pre-term presidential elections.

I also initiate returning to 2004 Constitution with the redistribution of power in favor of a parliamentary republic.

I am calling for the start of the procedure of forming a government of national trust.

As the president of Ukraine and the Protector of the Constitution today I am fulfilling my duty to the people, to Ukraine and to God for the sake of saving the state, for the sake of saving the lives of people, for the sake of peace and calm in our land”, - he claimed.
