Organizational units of parties obliged to be registered

Authorities obliged political parties and public associations to register their organizational units.

Council of Ministers’ resolution number 141 as of 18 February 2014 approved Provisions on the procedure of registering the organizational structures of political parties and public associations and Provisions on the order of the termination of activities of such organizational structures, AFN reports.

On one hand, the adopted document is a part of the recently renewed process of transformation of the public association “White Russia” into the ruling party with the same name, initiated by Lukashenka.

On the other hand, the obligatory registration of organizational structures will be an effective instrument in the hands of the authorities for cleansing the country’s political space from opposition parties and associations that refuse to cooperate with the regime.

It is worth pointing out that the resolution has come into force on 20 February.
