Maidan presents requirements for new Ukrainian authorities

Maidan activists have formulated criteria for members of the government of national trust.

Those included in the top 100 of Ukraine's richest people, heads of executive bodies and employees of the president's administration who held their posts since the beginning of 2010 cannot become members of the government of national trust, according to the requirements of the Circle of National Trust.

Other requirements include at least 7 years of experience in the relative sector except for the work in the Interior Ministry, the Security Service of Ukraine and the Defence Ministry, at least 5 years of leadership experience, noninvolvement in human rights violations and lack of information on corruption, Interfax-Ukraine news agency quotes the Circle's statement.

“We will check every candidate proposed by the new parliamentary majority and report about the results. Every government member will need Maidan's approval,” the statement reads.

Valery Pekar, a representative of the Circle of National Trust, explained to journalists that the initiative consists of the key organisations of the Maidan, which were the most powerful, well-known and reputable ones.

According to representative of the Automaidan Sergey Poyarkov, other members of the Circle are representative of medics of Maidan <>bOlga Bogomolets, Dmitry Yarosh from the Right Sector, Нis Grace Stefan from the Maidan’s Spiritual Rada, Oleh Mikhnyuk representing soldiers of the Soviet war in Afghanistan, Volodymyr Viatrovych from the Civil Sector of Maidan, Ruslana Lyzhychko and Svyatoslav Vakarchuk.

“The circle of national trust is not the governing body of the Maidan. It's, so to say, a mediator between the Maidan and managers, who will be employed by people,” His Grace Stefan said.

The Circle's representatives underline the list of the initiative's participants will be extended, and the members themselves did not claim to any position.

“We want not just a government, but the government of national trust. This government should consist of recognised professionals with spotless reputation, not of party functionaries,” the statement emphasises.

The Circle's members say they had a long meeting with interim minister of finance Yuriy Kolobov on his initiative to monitor the process of the transfer of power.

They were satisfied with the results of the meeting and said the minister was ready for a detailed discussion of the most difficult issues.
