Sikorski: Foreign accounts of Yanukovych's associates should be frozen

The Polish foreign minister offered to freeze foreign accounts of the people close to the ousted president of Ukraine.

“We speak here about the responsibility of certain EU countries, which we have been calling to do something with the foreign accounts for the last few weeks,” Korrespondent quotes Radoslaw Sikorski.

According to the Polish foreign minister, Ukraine should guarantee the protection of the rights of ethnic minorities in the country.

“The Ukrainian authorities should convey a clear message to their citizens belonging to different cultures that they will have a place in a new Ukraine,” he said emphasising that Ukraine accepted the relative obligations as a member of the Council of Europe.

“The respect for the language and certain rights of the ethnic minority must be guaranteed,” Radoslaw Sikorski added.

We remind that the political crisis began in Ukraine in late November 2013, when the Cabinet of Ministers suspended the European integration. Mass protests across Ukraine resulted in clashes with the police in January.

Clashes resumed on February 18 killing more than 100 people and injuring almost 700.
