Maidan to present new government of Ukraine (Video, live coverage)

(being updated) A new government of Ukraine will be named on Maidan Nezalezhnosti (Independence Square) today.

The news come from Ukrainian MP Valeriy Patskan (the UDAR group). The Maidan Council and representatives of political parties agreed that the new government would include public representatives, gazeta.ua reports.

“We unanimously agreed that public representatives would be included in the government, in several ministries. We and the UDAR group proposed to form a public council in each ministry. The council head should have a post of at least a deputy minister,” the MP said to Channel 5 on Tuesday evening after a joint meeting of the Maidan Council and party representatives.

According to him, they also discussed the issue on electing three public representatives by the Maidan Council to hold negotiations with politicians.

“We plan to have another meeting at 17:00 tomorrow and announce the makeup of the government on Maidan Nezalezhnosti at 19:00,” Patskan said.
