Ukraine’s armed forces on full alert

Ukrainian army is ready to ward off an attack.

Despite the difficult situation, Ukraine’s armed forces have been put on full alert.

This was stated by First vice-Prime Minister Vitaliy Yarema as he opened the government’s meeting, LigaBusinessInform reports.

Yarema stated that Russian troops keep staying along Ukraine’s Eastern border, gathering forces and accumulating numbers.

“In their turn the armed forces have been put on full alert, Ukraine-wide military practice has started, the issue is being worked out of creating Ukraine’s National Guard on the basis of interior troops. I am sure that in this difficult time the army will fulfill its high duty to Ukraine, despite the fact that along the past four years a systemic diversion has been carried out to undermine Ukraine’s national security and defense”, - he said.

Also, according to Yarema, prosecutor’s offices should shortly start an investigation and hold responsible everyone, who had something to do with embezzling military property of the Defense Ministry institutions.

“I am stating this once again: the armed forces are in a difficult situation today, but the Cabinet of Ministers has already taken a number of measures on increasing the financing of the needs of Ukraine’s army. The troops receive greases in the required amounts, the issue is being solved of clothing allowance supplies, 125 milion hryvnas have been allocated for a one-time bonus financing of the troops in the Crimea”, - he pointed out.

We would remind that Ukraine’s Border Control Service reported that the numbers of Russian troops in the territory of the Crimea kept growing. Yesterday Ukraine’s acting Defense Minister Igor Teniukh stated that the size of the armed forces of the Russian Federation that are carrying out military exercise along Ukraine’s Eastern borders and in the Crimea amounted to 220 thousand troops, 1800 tanks are involved, over 400 helicopters, 150 jets, 60 ships.
