Vaukavysk resident put on trial for solidarity with Ukraine

A Vaukavysk activist Vital Hulaka held an action against Russia’s intervention in Ukraine’s domestic affairs.

He protested against the intervention of Russian troops in the territory of the Ukrainian state, a guarantor of sovereignty and territorial integrity of which is Russia among others. Vital Hulaka held a Ukrainian yellow-blue flag and a banner saying “No war, Putin get out” and came to the park of International Soldiers at 5 p.m. so as many people as possible could see his protest. Unidentified people in mufti were already expecting him there and immediately started filming him. Vital Hulaka stood with the banner and being videotaped by unidentified people for about fifteen minutes, the human rights center Viasna reports.

Then a uniformed policeman appeared, who introduced himself as the deputy head of Vaukavysk police department and suggested that the activist followed him to a police station. He also immediately explained what Vital Hulaka was accused of.

An administrative protocol was composed against the activist for holding a non-authorized event, after which the activist was released. The court on the administrative case has been scheduled for 14 March on 10 a.m.
