Single mom with two children evicted from home

A judge of Minsk's Leninski district court ruled out to evict Iryna Illinskaya and her children from a dormitory of the construction company “Stroytrest No. 12”. She doesn't have another place to live.

Iryna Illinskaya is on parental leave now, BelaPAN reports.

About 30 parents of pupils of secondary school No. 26 in Mahilou appealed to Lukashenka asking not to allow the eviction. “We, the parents of children studying in school No. 26, ask you to protect the single mother and two her children, 8 and 2 years and 7 months, from eviction. The construction company “Stroytrest No. 12” evicts her from a dormitory through a court in accordance with the amendments to the Housing Code, though she has been living in the dormitory for 14 years and paying utility bills,” the appeal reads.

The people asked to sent reply to Aliaksei Paulouski, the initiator of the appeal, a candidate to the Mahilou city and regional councils and an activist of the independent trade union of electronic industry.

“I have no place to live,” Iryna Illinskaya says.

According to her, judge Trapynina didn't have the right to take a decision on her eviction without giving another place to live, because she raises small children.

Iryna Illinskaya says she wants to appeal against the decision taken by the Lenindski district court.

Iryna Illinskaya and the construction company singed a rental agreement for an indefinite period in 2004. In 2011, a fixed-term agreement was signed. Iryna was assured she wouldn't face any consequences.

After the term of the agreement expired, the construction company applied to a court asking to evict Illinskaya and her children.

Nash Mahilou newspaper writes Iryna Illinskaya sought help from officials, but her requests were declined. Representatives of the city executive committee said she had the right to improve her housing conditions by participating in construction under shared ownership terms or buying a flat. Iryna says her parental leave pay is enough only to buy food.
