Organisers call to bring Belarusian and Ukrainian symbols to Freedom Day rally

It is planned to adopt a resolution on solidarity with Ukraine at a rally on the occasion of the the BPR's anniversary on March 25.

Head of the BPF party Aliaksei Yanukovych, one of the applicants for the rally, says solidarity with Ukraine will be among key topics of the event, BelaPAN reports.

“We will hand out ribbons depicting Ukrainian and Belarusian white-red-white flags. We call on people to bring flags, posters and placards on a theme of the BPR's proclamation and Russia's aggression against Ukraine,” he said.

Maryna Khomich, the leader of the organising committee to create the association Young Christian Democrats, says the Minsk city executive committee permitted to use only registered symbols. It means symbols of the Belarusian Christian Democracy party cannot be used at the rally. “We call on participants to bring Ukrainian flags. They are more antidictatorial today than our party flags,” she said.

Participants are invited to gather in front of the Oktyabr cinema at 18:00. The column will walk along Independence Avenue and Surhanava Street to the Park of People's Friendship, where a meeting will be held from 19:30 to 20:00.
