Director of Belarusian Dramaturgy Theater Ihar Sihau did not get his contract prolonged

A series of conflicts goes on in Belarusian theaters.

This time a conflict took place at Republican Theater of Belarusian Dramaturgy, Nasha Niva reports.

Starting from 2012 the troupe’s director was one of the theater’s leading actors Ihar Sihau (in the picture). Several year prior to that he stared in the movie ‘Doors’, nominated for Oscar as ‘Best short movie’.

Together with Aliaksandr Harcujeu, the theater’s art director, Sihau managed to turn the theater into one of the capital’s best dramatic troupes. But the Ministry of Culture, to which the theater is subordinate, decided not to prolong the contract with Sihau.
