‘Cherkassy’ managed to beat off assault

Attempts of Russian troops to seize the trawler ‘Cherkassy’ did not come to success.

‘Ukrainian Truth’ learnt that from the senior miner of the ship’s artillery and mine-torpedo combat unit, a senior sailor Oleksandr Butnik.

In the morning Russian troops attempted to approach the ship on high-speed motorboats and disembark on it. The ‘Cherkassy’ did not let them do it by maneuvering.

According to Butnik, Ukrainian troops also threw smoke-puff charges into the water in order to prevent the boats from approaching.

As the seizure attempt failed, Russian commanders ordered the ship ‘Kirovograd’, that had yielded few days before, to capture the ‘Cherkassy’.

Butnik also said that in Monday the Ukrainian ship ‘Genichesk’ was seized.
