Ukraine recalls ambassador from Belarusian

Ukraine's ambassador to Belarus, Mykhailo Yezhel, has been recalled to Kyiv for consultations over Lukashenka's statements.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine recalled Ukrainian Ambassador to Belarus Mykhailo Yezhel for consultations in connection with the stance of the Belarusian leadership on Crimea.

“In connection with the statements made by president of Belarus Aliaksandr Lukashenka on March 23, the MFA of Ukraine has recalled Ukraine's Ambassador to the Republic of Belarus for consultations and sent a relative note to the Belarusian side stating that such remarks by the Belarusian president are contrary to the generally recognised rules of international law and the position of most countries that condemned Russia's actions to annex Crimea,” Interfax quotes MFA's spokesman Yevhen Perebyinis as sauing at a briefing on Monday.

Lukashenka made remarks on Ukraine at a briefing in Minsk on Sunday. In particular, he said that “Crimea is a part of Russia”, but nobody demands that Belarus support it or recognise the annexation of the peninsular by Russia.
