Jury Khashchavatski: If Russians try to get to Odessa, the residents will quickly dig machine guns out

The famous Belarusian film director advises Russians against attacking Odessa.

At the same time Jury Khashchavatski emphasizes that his home city is “pro-Odessa”. He said that in an interview to Belsat TV channel.

“They even used to say that there is such a nation, and it is actually true. In Odessa there was a melting pot, everyone would come there. It has emerged at the place of the military storehouses left by Russian army, and before that there were Greek colonies there. But Odessa has always been a porto franco, a city of free people”, - he claimed.

According to the film director, every Odessa resident balances between two dangers.

“The first danger is that they do not want to learn any other language but Russia. I cannot at all get the people, who cannot learn at least several words of the indigenous people. In Brighton Beach, for example, the same people from Odessa live the same way, but this is not normal”, - Jury Khashchavatski believes.

The director expressed an opinion that the events in Crimea are “a split between civilizations”. “A civilization that respects human rights and a slavery doctrine”.

As the show’s host Sviatlana Kalinkina pointed out, Jury Khashchavatski is convinced that if Russians try to get to Odessa, then even those will dig out machine guns, who today earns by partaking in Russian rallies for money.

We would note that the famous Belarusian film director was born in Odessa.
