Head of Polish National Security Bureau: Russia ready to attack Ukraine from Belarus

Ukraine can face an attack within 24 hours.
The US intelligence says Russia is likely to invade eastern Ukraine. General Stanislaw Koziej, the chief of the National Security Bureau of Poland (pictured right), does not deny Moscow is really ready for such actions. Staff officers already have several elaborated variants on their maps.
“In a military sense, the apparatus is ready for it. Tens of thousands of Russian soldiers have been training without a break on the border. Training is vital in this situation. It nothing else than preparations of different scenarios. Soldiers are warmed up, engines of military vehicles are warmed up. The military apparatus is ready for action. Everything depends on political will,” he said to TVP.INFO.
The Polish national security chief thinks the latest military exercises gave Russia time to prepare for attacking eastern Ukraine, but it doesn't mean it is ready to occupy the entire country.
“Russia might want to organise a campaign against entire Ukraine, but too little time for preparations has passed. Even though, we should remember that Ukraine is enclosed by Russia, also from the north, because Russia and Belarus are a common strategic area. Russia has no problems using this direction. All the more that Ukrainian forces are grouped in the eastern part of the country. For Russia, an attack on large territories of Ukraine could mean air, sabotage and airborne attacks without the need to use land forces,” he said.
