Officials ask businessmen of Pastavy to donate 300bn

The local authorities again ask money from businessmen.

It is the second time in March. Two weeks ago, the authorities asked to donate money for the sowing campaign. Now they collect money under the pretext of the so called subbotnik (a voluntary labour day) for the abstract needs of the district executive committee. The subbotnik was held on March 29. Charter97.org obtained a copy of the letter that the district executive committee sent to businessmen of the town of Pastavy.

The authorities recommend transferring the money gained at the subbotnik to the account of the district executive committee “on a voluntary basis”. The recommended size of a transfer is 300 billion Belarusian rubles, which came as a shock.
