Journalist Kiselyov: I am ashamed of being Russian citizen

A former NTV director, Yevgeny Kiselyov, doesn't want to be involved in aggression against Ukraine.

Yevgeny Kiselyov, a famous Russian journalist, former NTV director and editor-in-chief of Moskovskiye Novosti newspaper, now working in Kyiv, said to Radio Svaboda what he thinks about Russian citizenship and the methods of Russian television propaganda, which, in his opinion, looks like the methods of Goebbels.

Kiselyov compares a person watching only Russian television and believing what the Russian media say with a mentally sick person. He calls the situation on Russian state-owned TV channels a “propaganda frenzy”.

Kiselyov suggests Russia can invade Ukraine. The signs are evident, he thinks: special vehicles with powerful loudspeakers, establishing military field hospitals and field radio stations. Moscow's loud statements that it doesn't prepare any invasions sound especially alarming. We saw it in the Crimean situation, and see how it ended, Kiselyov says.

Yevgeny Kiselyov says he is ashamed of being a Russian citizen. He says he has been living in Ukraine for many years, and it has become his second home country.

“I am ashamed of being a Russian citizen. I don't want to be connected with the state that commits aggression against Ukraine,” he summed up.
